ABA DUNDUS

The legend of Aba Dundus.
A mysterious "country man" from deep in rural Jamaica that was a storied figure amongst studio session musicians in early 70's Kingston.
Showing no interest in living in the city, and a general refusal to walk upon paved roads and walkways, he is only known to have visited Kingston once where he imparted 7 songs to a group of musicians in Arnett Gardens. The songs were recorded the following day in a studio warm-up session but the project was never completed as Aba Dundus had returned to the country and his exact whereabouts were unknown.
The original tape of the session deteriorated over the decades but was copied to a small cassette tape and kept by a local business owner in the Greenwich Farm area of Kingston.
The son of the business owner immigrated to the United States in the early 1990's with the tape where one of the players from the Brotheration band heard the songs before the tape was lost when the owner's son's car was stolen along with all of his possessions.
Many years passed until the time was right to record the songs again and give Aba Dundus his due. Many inquiries have been made over the years to find and make contact with Aba Dundus but to no avail. There have been a few stories from young Rastas that sought him out in deep rural areas of the Portland Parish of Jamaica for reasoning and guidance but he was never known to have entered a city again.
With great respect to the composer of these mighty songs and those that guarded them until they could be properly recorded, we offer Weeping, the first of the 7 songs that will be released to celebrate the extraordinary and mysterious genius of Aba Dundus.
